At Kalpavriksha Fine Arts (KFA), we are dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Indian classical dance. Founded with a passion for Bharatanatyam, we offer comprehensive training that blends tradition with creativity. Our expert faculty guides students to master technique while nurturing their artistic expression. Through performances and productions, we inspire a lifelong love for the arts and cultural.

Founders

Meera

Co Founder

Meera Balasubramanian is the Founder and CEO of Kalpavriksha Fine Arts (KFA), a premier institution dedicated to the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam. Under her leadership, KFA has flourished into a center for performance, education, and artistic innovation, shaping the next generation of Bharatanatyam artists. As an educator, Meera has trained over 200 students, guiding many through their Arangetram and inspiring them to embrace the discipline and depth of the art form. Beyond teaching, Meera is an acclaimed choreographer and performer, leading KFA in prestigious international projects. As Artistic Director and Lead Dancer, she helmed KFA’s representation of Singapore at the International Ramayana Festival (India, 2024) and ASEAN cultural projects in Malaysia (2022) and Cambodia (2024). She also curated and directed Samskriti - Festival of Arts (2023), a platform celebrating Bharatanatyam’s evolution.

She choreographed and directed Kasi – The Infinite, which was commissioned by Esplanade, Singapore, in 2022 and restaged in 2023. Additionally, she conceptualized Yajnaseni – The Eternal Flame in 2019, which she has reimagined for 2025. Recognized by the National Arts Council, Singapore, Meera continues to push artistic boundaries, ensuring Bharatanatyam remains a vibrant and transformative force in the global arts scene.

Sruti

Co Founder

Sruti is one of the founding directors of Kalpavriksha Fine Arts and a dedicated artiste with over 25 years of experience in Bharatanatyam. She began her dance journey under Smt. Sitaravamma Sandrasegaran at SIFAS, where she completed her Arangetram, and has since trained under various gurus, currently learning from Guru P. N. Vikas. Sruti played the protagonist in Kalpavriksha Fine Arts’ first production, Mudivil Oru Arambam, and has been a part of numerous SIFAS alumni dance productions, including Krishna Bharatam, Pravaha, and Aham, working with esteemed choreographers Sri Sheejith Krishna and Sri Shyamjith Kiran. In 2022, she co-choreographed and performed Maanudam, a piece on peace and humanity at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, which led to Human | Nature, a commissioned work that was well received at the Esplanade Theatre Studio in 2023.

Beyond performance, Sruti is passionate about making the arts accessible and relevant. She is the founder of The Introspective, a content platform bridging traditional arts with contemporary audiences. When she is not dancing, Sruti is also a Carnatic vocalist and a strategy consultant.
